Nelson Miles, a colonel in the army, and long associated with Indian problems, complained about the suppression of truth and distortion of affairs by the government officals in Washington concerning his direction of Indian affairs. He criticizes the conduct of commanding officers at the Battle of Wounded Knee, complaining that his successes have not been properly recognized while other military men less deserving have been promoted.
